"Steve, are you sure this girl's hair isn't going to turn red as she gets older?" I laughed.

For the rest of the afternoon, the three of us watched the game on my iPad while Greta watched cartoons on a TV that was bigger than her bed. As her eyelids began to drop, Steve, my son in law and her father smiled. She stretched her tiny body out on the sofa and Steve grabbed for the remote.

Her eyes popped open and she took it back. Steve was not pleased.

An hour later, after the game had ended, with the Lions somehow able to win it, we sat down to eat. The turkey was beautiful and I had a lot to be thankful for. I had my kids and their spouses. I had my beautiful and soon to be spoiled Grandchild. And most of all I had my heart filled again with Hope.

After we said Grace and began to pass the food around, we heard a chiming sound. Lisa pulled out her phone and answered it.

The voice was loud enough and angry enough that even though the phone wasn't on speaker we heard it.

"Where are you? Where is everyone? I dozed off and the smoke alarm woke me up. The God Damned turkey is burnt to a crisp and I'm alone on Thanksgiving. First my so called best friend steals my husband. Now my entire family deserts me on Thanksgiving."

Lisa put the phone down on the table and left it there. "Happy Thanksgiving Dad," she said. "Pass that macaroni."

We passed the food around and settled in to eat ignoring Charity's rant on the phone. Under the table Hope grabbed my hand.

"Happy Thanksgiving, baby," she said. And it was. For the first time in a long time, it really was.

The End.

Like so many of the MCs in these cheating wife stories this one has compounded his misfortune by a factor of ten by flouncing off in a huff and refusing to let his side of the story be heard by anyone else thus creating the impression that he is the bad guy. I can't imagine anyone punishing themselves in this way and not being desperate to tell their side IRL.

As gut wrenching and improbable a concept as it is the wife cheating by offering sexual favours to multiple homeless men is handled well by an author who is renowned for his OTT premises and scenarios but still manages to draw the reader in, a very impressive skill to have. A most enjoyable read.

I swear this authors stories have the exact same main character in them....dude who loves his wife more than anything, he owns a mustang, he reads erotica on the internet, he is a runner, and his wife is fugly and cheats on him but still loves him. Its like Groundhog Day with every story.

guess I've been reading these to long, too predictable. I suppose there could something commendable about screwing homeless me to encourage them but give me a break, YUK!
